Prevention and Treatment of Breakthrough Fungal Infections and Issues in Refractory Disease
This issue of Fungal News Digest reviews the current medical literature regarding treatment strategies for refractory
or breakthrough invasive fungal infections, including candidiasis and aspergillosis. The role of newer antifungal
agents, such as the echinocandins and broad-spectrum azoles, in treating these difficult infections is also discussed.
